How to Submit a File

There are a few things to keep in mind when you submit your files to us. In order for us to get your job set up, and off the press as quickley as possible, consider the instructions on this list first:

  1. All images that you use must be at least 300dpi. If they are less than 300dpi, your images will print grainy and pixelated.
  2. All print ready files must be CMYK – not RGB. Any images that have not been converted over to CMYK will print with a dull, or gray appearance.

There are also many different file types that designers and printers use. Most printers will be able to print most file formats. Here is a list of files that we accept, and how to prepare them before you submit them to us:

PDF is an acceptable file format, and can be created from any of the file formats listed on this page. In addition, PDF documents automatically embed all of the fonts and images used when they are created. Thus, many find that converting a file to a PDF is a better option.

  1. When creating a PDF, please make sure that your document meets ALL of the requirements as described on this page (for example, if your are creating a PDF from an Adobe Illustrator file, then refer to the instructions listed there before you save the file as a PDF).
  2. Make sure that your PDF is saved as either a press quality, or a high quality print file. Saving a PDF using the smallest file size option will lower the quality of your document.
  3. If you plan to create a PDF using a word processing program (i.e. WORD, EXCEL, etc) please select PDF Writer, or PDF Distiller as your printer.
  1. Ensure that your document is the actual size that you want to print. Placing artwork in the centre of a large empty artboard may result in confusion between the order and the artwork.
  2. Ensure all files have 3mm bleed (1/8″ or 0.125″) on all edges of the page.
  3. All print ready files must be CMYK (unless they are grayscale, or they were created with Spot Colors). Any images that have not been converted over to CMYK will print with a dull or gray appearance.
  4. Be sure to collect all images and fonts for output – they are not automatically embedded in the file. If you do not, they WILL NOT APPEAR on the final product.

  3. Supply the artwork as a layered file (unflattened tif, or psd file) incase there are any minor changes that need to be made. We cannot access the individual components of a JPEG, or other flattened files.
